Look Ma! No Hands!

Well, I think we are knocking on the door to a new phase in Erik J's life. He is 10 months old as of yesterday and he can stand up all by himself. He has been practicing for a week or two now and he is getting better every day.

I can't believe how quickly this kid learns. It is like he just decided one day, "Hey I wonder what would happen if I let go of mommy's leg?" So he did. He crawls up to an object, read object as: my arm, my leg, my back, daddy, or the couch, climbs to standing and cautiously lets go and tests his own balance. Today he was doing it and then clapping for himself. Next, he will be walking, then the dog will really have to run and hide and big Erik and I may need to get on some sort of medication. =)

Shake Your Groove Thing....

I don't think many people know this about our little chunk, but he loves to shake his groove thing. Which I realize many of our short little friends do, but what is funny about little Erik is that he likes to shake is tail feather to rock and the classic stuff; the kind of stuff you would hear on Guitar Hero Legends of Rock! His dad jams while the little guy grooves to "Low Rider". His dad couldn't be more proud.

Lately though he has expanded his moves to listing to music on the computer. Daddy searches for fun songs on You Tube and they bounce to the beat. One of his all time favorite songs is "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard. As soon as it comes on he turns and looks at us with the biggest grin. He has actually liked it since he was in the womb! :) These pictures depict our latest jam session which included, "Jungle Love" by The Time and "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" by Bowling For Soup. What can I say, this kid likes to rock! I think rocked himself out because at the end he just had to take a rest.

Who's that Baby in the Mirror?

For many months now Erik Jr has been very excited to see himself or it would be better to say - the baby who visits him- in the mirror. This time he actually got to play with that baby! Erik Jr. discovered the floor length mirror at Uncle Trevor and Bethany's house. He was immediately elated at the site. He talked to the baby in the mirror and tried to touch him. He even licked the mirror. I think he was trying to give him a kiss. =) He's the cutest little guy! I love to see him discover new things.

Hangin with the Boys

Erik and I met a great group of new parents like us at the hospital where we had Erik J. In these pictures we are hanging out with a couple of them; Karyn and her son Lucas, and Joe and his son Nicholas at the park by Grandpa Tittle's house. We played in grass, and swung on the swings. They had a great time.

It is so hilarious how they already know to pose and smile for the camera. These are definately new age babies though, because they aren't posing for cameras. They are posing for cell phones!

The cute little blonde blue eyed guy in red is Lucas, and the sweet little blue eyed guy with brown hair is Nicholas.

9 Months Old - It's going fast

I cannot believe that this kid is already 9 and a half months old. I am really happy and sad at the same time. He is such a cool kid and I love him just the way he is. I wish he could stay this age forever. He is so happy, and so crazy all over the place. He really can finally play on his own and have fun. As you can see in these pictures he also really likes to "get into things," whether it is a bag, a basket or our dvd collection. He would much rather play in things like our kitchen cabinets than play with actual baby toys. He also really enjoys playing ball. He could sit on the floor with us for ever with us rolling the ball to him and him throwing it back.

Changing his clothes and diapers have become quite a chore lately though. He absolutely hates it. He would much rather be up and about. So, we have invented a few games to help the situation. When changing his clothes we take off his shirt first, but leave it on his head and play the "What's on your head," game. He always laughs and it keeps him entertained. This has morphed into him liking to play with "hats" a lot too. We put the "hat" ie: baseball hats, sombreros, pots etc on his head and say "What's on your head?" He laughs and takes it off. Then we start over.

The other game he likes to play on the changing table is getting the peoples attention who happen to be walking outside. The changing table sits right under his window. So half the time he stands up, and starts to bang on the window and yell. Then he waves and smiles at our neighbors walking below. I do feel like it is important to add that he is normally naked during these escapades. =)

He is getting pretty good at feeding himself in his high chair too. When we first started trying encourage him to put food in his own mouth he was going through an odd stage where he wouldn't let you put any piece of whole food in his mouth at all. It was crazy. He would seriously look at you like you killed him. If you actually happened to sneak even a cheerio in he would gag and gasp like he was dying. This weird little boy crawls around this house all day putting random things in his mouth, dog hair, bones, the cap to the bolt on the toilette for example, but if you happened to get a real whole piece of food in his mouth the world would end. Now he is doing pretty well. You actually have to slow him down sometimes. This morning he was shoveling strawberries slices in his mouth faster than it could cut them up!

This whole feeding himself thing and throwing balls game has also fostered a better relationship with the dog too. He tries to throw the ball for Clovis, but he can't quite get it far enough. =) But they are "sharing" so there is at least some interaction. One thing he is good at is feeding Clovis. She has grown accustomed to hanging around his highchair waiting for stray cheerios or fruit to drop. Then she follows him around after and tries to clean him and his high chiar up!

Well, that is all I can think of for now. Wow that was a lot to catch you up on. I am planning to
keep this site more up to date than his old site, so keep checking back. Oh and FYI you can ask this site to email you whenever I have updated it.

Have a great week!

Beach Combers

We have spent a lot of time lately buying new bycicles, swiming with Erik Jr. and going to the beach. For fathers day we bought big Erik a bike to ride to work , and then the Erik's bought me a beach cruiser for my birthday. I was so excited. It took me three weeks to even pick out the one I wanted. I ended up getting an Electra Coaster Cruiser 7 speed in White/Mint Green complete with basket and helmet. We originally intended to get a helmet and a bike seat for the short guy too, but it turns out that he needs to be at least 12 months old before they can ride. =( These bikes have already come in handy a lot lately. Both of our cars broke on the same day, so I dropped one car off at the mechanic and rode home on my bike. Then when the car was ready I rode big Erik's bike to get it. Those Tierrasanta Hills are killer. They don't really spell beach cruiser. This is great!

Welcome

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to our new web site. We switched over from the old website because this one should be easier to use and we can do a whole lot more with it. We hope you enjoy the pictures and commentary! =)
